The paper reports the preliminary results from a young (three years) clonal field trial from a cross between clones SFS 150 and TN 14-3 as the female and male parents respectively. Clone SFS 150 is drought tolerant and is high yielding with good quality. Clone TN 14-3 is high pH tolerant and has also high yield potential and good quality. The clones were compared for high yield potential with clones 31/8 and 515/10; for quality with clone 6/8 and for drought tolerant with clone SFS 150. The results indicate that two of the clones, 430/4 and 430/7 are showing early good potential in yield, quality and drought tolerance. Further evaluation will be conducted to verify the performance of these two clones over time |
