Abstract:
This study was intended to examine the effectiveness and challenges faced in the implementation of subsidized education in public secondary schools in Mombasa County. Descriptive survey research design was used in this study. Data was collected from Principals, their deputies and heads of departments in the schools. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistics. The findings revealed that the implementation of subsidized secondary education in Mombasa County has faced numerous challenges which are attributed to high enrollment, High drop-out rate, Low transition rate and inadequate funds among others. This study will greatly inform educational policy developers in addressing the pertinent issues affecting the subsidized secondary education.
