dc.description.abstractThe focus of all public institutions in implementation of public procurement regulations is acquisition of quality goods and services at a reasonable cost. This is imperative in enabling organisations to minimise expenditure for the realisation of their set goals and get value for money in an era of turbulent economic times; which poses challenges to the procurement process. This study sought to investigate Institutional challenges influencing principals' implementation ofpublic procurement regulations inpublic secondary schools in Kenya. The study objectives sought to establish the influence of distance from school to a major town, suppliers' related challenges and Board of management members' related challenges in the procurement of goods and services on. implementation of public procurement regulations in secondary schools. From a target population of 29 public secondary schools a sample size of 27public secondary schools was used for the study. The study used descriptive survey design and inferential statistics. The study used questionnaires for 27 principals 27 deputy principals 27 accounts clerks, members of procurement committees and District Schools Auditors. Simple random sampling procedure was used to select the procurement committee members. Data was presented by use of frequency tables,percentages and a chi square test.en_US
