dc.description.abstractAlthough the government introduced free secondary Education financing scheme, joining secondary schools continue to decline. Purpose of study was to investigate factors contributing to low rate of transition from primary to secondary school in Juja division. objectives of study was to establish the number of pupils registered for KCPE Examination in Juja division primary schools establish measures that could be taken to improve access of standard eight leavers to post primary education. From the findings, the study concludes that enrolment rates in public primary schools in Juja Division of Thika District declined and that the transition rate decreased. The problem of low transition rated affect boys more than girls. The most prominent causes of declining rates of transition rate of pupils in public primary schools in the division are poverty, orphaning due to HIV and AIDS.en_US
